We have all grown up seeing blue skies. But if global warming turns worse, further shooting up temperatures, we may have to get used to the idea of yellow skies to keep the earth cool.
Australian scientist Tim Flannery suggests that earth’s temperatures will come down if we inject sulphur into the air.
This will make the sky yellow, which may not be very pleasing to the eye, but it will halt climate change.
Sulphur, when injected in its gaseous form into the earth’s stratosphere, will prevent harmful sun rays from reaching and affecting us, thereby slowing down global warming.
Mr Flannery is confident that sulphur skies will become a reality in the next five years. The process is quite simple. Add sulphur to the fuel of jet engines or aeroplanes. Since the exhaust will contain sulphur, it will settle in the stratosphere, blocking sunlight.
Sulphur emissions through automobiles are harmful for human and animal health.
